In Japan, there has been a concept of “Kotodama” (the spirit of words) since around 700 AD， and it is said that power resides in the “word” itself. Calligraphy is not only the art of the line, but also the activity of discovering the “value” of words for oneself by selecting, writing, and placing words close to one’s heart. In the workshop, we invite you to explore the words that bring joy and smiles to your life. 1.) Select one Kanji character.Choose your favorite letter from the prepared example. 2.) Held “Postcard de Shodo” at Baba Kobo & Minato Saturday Market!
On May 5, 2025, the workshop “Postcard de Calligraphy” was held at the Grandma’s Workshop Exhibition, and on May 10, at the Minato Saturday Market.The weather in May is not always stable, and the day of May 5 was a mid-summer day, while the day of May 10 was a light rain, making it a difficult environment for outdoor calligraphy. the 61st Kenshin Calligraphy Society Chubu Exhibition

SHODO x Folk Art 2024 Exhibition of works
15Dec.2024～11Jan.2025 Nagoya Port Building 2F Gallery This exhibition features works written on colored paper by people with connections to the Port of Nagoya, using characters related to the port and the sea. The characters in seal script represent words that come to mind from life in the port city and the creatures of the Port of Nagoya Aquarium.The seal script is the oldest of the typefaces in use today and is used primarily in seals. It is essentially a hieroglyphic character in which all lines are drawn with the same thickness. The 73rd Chunichi Calligraphy Exhibition
From June 26 to June 30, 2024, Mori’s works were exhibited at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art Gallery (Aichi Prefectural Center for Arts and Culture 8F). This is a poem by Wang Wei (669-761). It is said to be one of the favorite poems of Li Guonian, a famous actor whom Du Fu met in Hunan in the last year of his life after his wandering.
